Yoritomo - FD Stellaworth Story

Incense that connects feelings

A few months after Yoritomo and Yoshitsune moved to Kamakura, as they scrambled to lay the foundation for a new samurai government, Yoritomo decided to vacate his residence for a few days starting tomorrow in order to hold meetings with warlords from other regions.

This was because there were some who, despite having supported the Genji, were dissatisfied in their hearts.

Governing the country using other means than force – Yoritomo was trying to make too big a reform.

In order to accomplish this, it was important to convey one's intentions firmly and correctly to the warlords.

That was why Yoritomo as the leader had to go there himself.

(This meeting will be an important task. I will definitely make it a success.)

On the other hand, while feeling inspired as so, Yoritomo had a nagging feeling in his heart.

It was about Yoshitsune, who would be left at the residence.

(I know it's necessary, but...it still feels hard to leave.)

In keeping with her vow to support Yoritomo as his wife, Yoshitsune had always been devoted to his side since their marriage. Recently, she had also honed her skills in running their household, and it was due to her presence that Yoritomo was able to pursue his mission without worries.

This would be the first time he would be separated from Yoshitsune since they became husband and wife, and he couldn’t help but feel lonely.

(It's hard to leave my wife…I never thought I'd feel this way...)

His past self would frown if he knew this.

Or would he scorn himself as being weak?

However, to him, Yoshitsune had now become an existence so important.

The feeling of loving someone strongly can make one both strong and weak.

He knew this for the first time after meeting Yoshitsune.

(...Will Yoshitsune miss me too?)

That night...Yoritomo told her who had been tending to him as usual about the meeting with the warlords.

"Is that so…"

“I won’t be able to come back for a few days.”

Yoshitsune nodded. "Yes, I understand. Don't worry about anything and leave the mansion to me."

It was a firm and unwavering reply.

He didn’t want her to be sad, and he felt that her spirit was dependable as usual. But...it was also true that he somehow felt lonely.

He wondered if he was the only one who felt reluctant to leave.

"...Do you have any thoughts about my absence?"

Before he knew it, he had said such a thing.

Yoshitsune’s eyes shook at his words and she looked down a little.

"It would be a lie if I said I'm fine. I want to stay by Yoritomo’s side forever, never once leaving you."

"Aa."

He was relieved that she still felt the same way.

But then Yoshitsune immediately lifted her head and directed her straight eyes to Yoritomo.

"But more than that, I want you to do what you strive for without worrying. As your wife, I will protect this mansion."

"Yoshitsune..."

"Have a safe trip, Yoritomo-sama. I believe that you will make the meeting a success. I will be waiting for your return here."

Yoritomo stared at her smiling face.

What shone with dignity in her strong eyes was the strength of a military commander's wife, which Yoshitsune had recently acquired. Her love touched his heart, and he brought her into his arms without him realizing it himself.

"...! Yoritomo-sama..."

"I'm grateful that you feel that way. But if you're lonely, you can say that."

"But…"

He hugged her bewildered form and whispered into her ear. "I feel the same way. It's hard to leave."

"Eh, really?"

"Aa. I always want to be with you."

He was still not used to expressing his honest feelings. Especially showing such weakness. But he could say such things to her because he believed that she would accept it.

"...This is for you."

He gently let go of Yoshitsune's body and handed over what he had prepared earlier.

"Is this incense?"

"Yes. Burn this while I'm gone."

This was the incense that Yoritomo usually burned in his room. Yoshitsune immediately noticed this and her face cracked into a smile.

"It's Yoritomo-sama's incense."

"Aa. This incense will connect my heart with yours even while we're apart."

"It smells good...It's like Yoritomo-sama is hugging me. Thank you. I won't be lonely if I have this."

Although it was prepared for her, it also included Yoritomo's own wish.

He wanted his loved one to wear his incense [scent].

He wanted her to always think of him, even when he wasn’t there.

– those were his wishes.

Yoritomo's whole heart was filled with Yoshitsune, who was holding the incense to her chest with care.

"In order to create a world where people can live in peace. And in order to repay you for your support, I will do what I need to do. So believe me and wait."

“Yes…if it’s you, I’m sure it will come true.”

Her honest words and eyes lit a fire in his heart.

Yoshitsune probably didn’t know the amount of strength she had given him with her words and faith in him.

When he stretched out his arms and hugged her again, she obediently surrendered herself.

The sound of rustling clothes echoed, and the signs of the couple's night deepened.

Yoshitsune, who noticed the change in Yoritomo’s demeanor, showed a slightly embarrassed gesture when he placed his hand on her smooth cheek and raised her face.

"Ah…"

Yoritomo pushed her to the floor without hesitation.

He picked up the incense she was holding and threw it to her side.

"Even though it's something you've taken so much trouble with..."

"This will come into play after I leave. It's still good now."

Yoshitsune's cheeks blushed when he told her not to focus on anyone but himself.

"From now on, I want to make love to you to make up for the time when we will be separated...is that okay?"

"...Yes."

Looking up at him, Yoshitsune’s eyes were moist with anticipation, filled with the same heat as his. He loosened her clothes, dropping kisses on her cheeks and her forehead.

"Hmm…”

The nasal and charming voice that she made because of his actions got his heart even more excited. Yoritomo came to a sudden thought and put his lips to Yoshitsune's neck, sucking it strongly.

"Ah!"

Feeling a slight pain, Yoshitsune trembled and looked at Yoritomo.

"Yoritomo-sama? What are you doing..."

On the skin where he sucked hard, there was a mark.

"This scar is proof of my love."

The wet red marks looked good on her white skin. A dark and sweet satisfaction filled his chest at the fact that he had left a mark on his loved one.

"I'll be back by the time this disappears. Then when the time comes, I'll leave this mark on you again...will you accept it?"

His love for her overflowed into an uncontrollable obsession. Yoshitsune smiled happily without fear despite the fact that she had caught a glimpse of that love, which was so strong that even he was surprised by it himself.

"Yes. I will be waiting for you."

"Yoshitsune..."

"...Then let me convey my love to you too."

This time she put her arm around Yoritomo's neck and gave him a kiss.

A girl who accepted his whole self.

He felt that this kindness and graceful strength of hers were always protecting him.

The connection between their two hearts was unquestionable.

(I'm sure even if we're apart, this love will connect us stronger than incense.)

And that connection could not be severed by anyone.

Yoritomo felt this way as they kissed sweetly and softly, confirming their feelings for each other.
