Okazaki Kei - “Hidden Feelings” Short Story
“Yoshinari-kun. Please take care. I’ll leave the rest to you.”
“Roger. Were you called by the superiors?”
“Yeah, there’s someone they’re concerned about.”
“Ah…. That girl right… Will she hate us if we’re too persistent?”
“Hehe, don’t worry. I treated her with a gentleman’s manners.”
“Is… that so? (─.─||)”
I waved my hand at my subordinate who was giving me a dull look, and left the building where I was stationed and started walking.
To investigate a person who recently approached the "them" who are based in this building.
(A client of the detective agency, huh? It's terrible of Yanagi-san and the others to lie. You know it's obvious.)
No matter how trivial the possibility is, it cannot be discarded from the point of view of the mission.
As long as my goal is to protect them, my job is to eliminate risk factors. I don't think that person, "she", is a bad girl, but there are things that can happen.
(... Well, that's not a lie either)
It becomes a little empty after lining up the ostensible reasons. It's not really for that reason.
(I don't know why... I'm really curious about her.) I have a faint feeling that I might find what I'm looking for. Right now, there's no basis for it, it's just a hunch.
When this premonition becomes a reality, I can finally find meaning in my mission to protect them. On the contrary...the day may come when my wish will come true.
"Good evening, Miss Cat."
While embracing such expectations, I turned a heartfelt smile on her.
I can't control my excitement like a child on a treasure hunt.
(I want to know more about you. I want to get along with you.)
―Someday, for the day when my wish will come true.
